DR. MARY BELLE GLAZE

Dr. Glaze graduated from Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1976. After working in a small animal general practice in Baton Rouge, she completed a residency and Master's degree in veterinary ophthalmology at Michigan State University in 1981. She then joined the faculty of Louisiana State University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital, remaining on staff until 2001, when she retired as Professor Emeritus of Veterinary Ophthalmology. Dr. Glaze joined the Gulf Coast Animal Eye Clinic in August of that year and practices only out of our Campbell Road office.

Dr. Glaze is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. She has served as ACVO Secretary-Treasurer , as President in the final year of her term on the Board of Regents, chaired the Residency committee and also served on the Examination and Governance committees. She was the first woman elected president of the American Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ASVO). She has spoken to veterinary groups throughout the world, authored a number of journal articles and book chapters, and is the co-author (with Dr. Kerry Ketring) of veterinary atlases on feline ocular disease and canine inherited ocular disorders. Her university research focused on the use of novel lytic peptides for the treatment of herpetic ocular disease in animals.

In her spare time Dr. Glaze travels, races Corvettes, and loves to bake sweets to share with her colleagues at GCAEC.
